Introduction

The American National Council of Accreditation Standards® (ANCAS®) is committed to maintaining impartiality, transparency, accessibility, and credibility in its certification and accreditation processes. This Policy & Procedures Manual outlines ANCAS®'s mission, key principles, and operating standards for effective and trustworthy certification services. The guidelines presented within this manual are intended to ensure consistency, quality, and compliance across all processes.


1. Mission Statement

  • Objective: The primary objective of ANCAS® is to provide enterprises with recognized, trusted certification services that contribute to industry standards and operational excellence.
  • Vision: To serve as the leading authority in accreditation and certification by supporting a vast network of enterprises through consistent and equitable standards.
  • Commitment: ANCAS® is committed to impartial, fair, and thorough certification processes, ensuring our accredited enterprises uphold the highest standards of compliance, safety, and efficacy.

2. Scope of Certification and Services

  • General Scope: ANCAS® certifies enterprises across all sectors in the United States and worldwide, ensuring they meet high standards for industry leadership and credibility. Core certifications span quality management, environmental compliance, information technology and safety standards, while also covering industry-specific regulatory requirements across essential sectors, such as healthcare, finance, manufacturing, information technology, construction, defense, and education. ANCAS® further extends its certification expertise to include critical fields like biotechnology, aerospace, energy, food safety, telecommunications, and environmental services. This broad certification scope supports organizations of every kind in achieving recognized standards worldwide.
  • Application Sectors: Certifications provided by ANCAS® certifications cover all industry sectors, from manufacturing, healthcare, IT, defense, and energy to finance, construction, environmental services, and beyond. Each certification is precisely tailored to address the specific compliance and regulatory needs unique to that sector, ensuring comprehensive, sector-specific support that aligns with industry standards globally.

5. Certification Process and Procedures

  • Initial Assessment: ANCAS® conducts a comprehensive initial assessment to evaluate the enterprise's current compliance status. This assessment includes document reviews, interviews, and preliminary site visits (if applicable).
